That is of coursr IF he wanted to talk about The War. How proud he was and we his children were to see him march every Anzac Day. What you are doing here is great. Hi, I have the privilege of working with a Rat on his (short) memoirs. He lives in a nursing home now, but he still has all his marbles and he is an absolute inspiration. There is so much I can learn from him, but the first and foremost thing I've learnt is humility.
Thanks for putting together a great page; I hope to be able to add some stuff as I learn, as well.
Regards, Lisa.

My dad is 96 and served overseas, he spent 6 months in Tobruk in the 2nd 12th made up of mostly tasmania's and queenslanders. He is well and really enjoys talking of his experiences now. My husband and I travelled to Libya in 2010 and what an experience, one we will never forget. To be ale to walk amongst the trenches and go under ground under the famous "fig tree", unbelievable. We also visited the commonwealth war cemeteries in Benghazi, Tobruk and el Alamein. The overall experience was life changing and made us more appreciative of our history.

My granddad Cecil Johnstone was a Rat of Tobruk. He was with the 2nd 12th. Coming from Queensland. Was a great man, but didn't speak much about it to me before he passed away. I guess he thought I was too young ( I was only 4 when he left us) I'm digging around trying to gather any information I can about him and who he served with. So far his medals have brought me to find he was with in the 2nd 12th and a rat of Tobruk but that's all I know.

War is a fascinating subject. Despite the dubious morality of using violence to achieve personal or political aims. It remains that conflict has been used to do just that throughout recorded history.

Your article is well done, a good read.
